Advances in understanding the genetic and somatic alterations of melanoma have led to a rapidly evolving therapeutic landscape. Targeted therapies and immunotherapies, used alone, in combination, or sequentially, aim to improve treatment responses, overcome resistance, and enhance immune activity. The introduction of ctla-4 checkpoint inhibitors and braf-targeted therapies marked a major breakthrough, significantly improving overall survival. Further insights into the tumor microenvironment and immune evasion mechanisms have driven the development of new immunomodulatory and targeted approaches. Current research focuses on: - biomarkers and precision medicine to predict treatment response; - combination strategies involving immunotherapy, targeted therapies, and other treatment modalities; - advances in melanoma prevention, diagnosis, and treatment; - expert debates on current controversial issues in melanoma management
